TRASNSCRT:
welcome back to Weekend Today and it is the one thing that morning TV hosts and the better half of Australians can all agree on Am I right A cup of coffee makes the start of the day that much better If you've ever looked at your barista made beverage in awe of the intricate latte art you're not alone Yeah So we thought we'd put ourselves up to the challenge Here to teach us how to do latte art is the owner of Little Italy Coffee Roasters Adam Bortz who's over there Hello And also coffee artist James as well and the coffee artist
James So James let's start off You brewed a lot of coffee The magic is in the milk How do you froth milk properly Cuz I just normally burn it Now that's a good question So it's a two-step process So there's a bit of texture at the beginning Just the right amount for a flat white or a latte and then we sink the wand into the milk and the rest is all heat And that's the easiest way to teach people And you go by touch don't you By touch Yeah So dabbing your hand on the jug just when it's too hot enough
I'm a Melbourne Well you're going to go first in this little exercise because of your cocky confidence Do you want to demo first So I'll just show you what we're trying to make I'm going to show you a simple love heart Mhm And this is how we show our students when we're training them for the first time So pour the base of milk there Mhm And I'm going to pour slightly harder Maybe a little wiggle A wiggle and a lift And then we've got a lovely some kind of interpretation of a love heart there I love that Not bad Aggressive Okay Uh so
who's going first Am I giving you Yeah Talk a good game All right Well talk a big a big game as a birdie Oh you and you should Is it hot Hot There it goes You ready Hold angle on the cup there Okay Camera We tried camera A round and round Okay Hang on It's all in the wrist action Exactly All in the wrist He's going well Well that's it Now now pour towards the camera That's fantastic Is it looks like a jellyfish Hey I'm happy with that That's not bad I mean we can figure out what it is Jellyfish You You've nailed it All right
Miss Sledge let's give you a go Come on Into the hot seat Oh here we go Okay which one am I using Melians like their coffee 3/4 full too So you really better do you pour from the big one or the little one I would use that one there Ali This one Give that a no pressure Petrayski I've got to beat the jellyfish Exactly Jellyfish So a bit of angle on the cup if you can Maybe towards the camera And then a couple of circles Couple circles That's it And then now when you come in now pour quite hard towards the middle
Don't stop it up Pressure's on Legend from the crowd Just pour hard Pour very hard there You'll get this Pour very hard Pour very hard And just keep pouring The pressure's got to Oh no It's abstract No actually No that looks like a a wave Yep that's that's something That's something Come on Pearl All right Now I just tuned out me Lizzy I tuned out while you were explaining it That's what I always giving you a glass So you pressure you cuz I'm a bit currently the clubhouse leader is the tadpole All right here we go But you guys can do
all sorts of intricate things I mean I've seen teddy bears dogs names like portraits So we're just starting off with hearts and we're kind of not really naming your faces on here but we don't have time for that Okay Right So right-handed again Yeah I'm right there There we go Bit of angle on the glass Now while Lizzy's doing that you know pour a base of milk I'm shaking I'm shaking That's perfectly normal How's that Yeah that's it Tilt the glass a little bit more and then pour quite heavily Oh I need special help
Ah look at mine guys Look at mine Yes Oh yeah But you've got a little bit of help It was looking so good That happens to every barista would you would you give us a job No for sure Absolutely Okay if this doesn't work out then if people at home are wanting to try this where can they find some more information out We've got our Instagram which is Little Italy Coffee Roasters there's lots of videos on there lots of tips And speaking of your viewers we've actually got a promo running at the moment where
