Gathinja Factory – Kahuhia FCS Ltd, Murang’a County

Nestled in the lush highlands of Murang’a County at elevations between 1,650 and 1,700 meters above sea level, Gathinja Factory is proudly operated by Kahuhia Farmers Cooperative Society Ltd, one of Kenya’s most historic and respected cooperatives.

The factory supports a vibrant community of over 700 active smallholder farmers, drawn from Kahuhia FCS’s wider membership of more than 2,700 growers. These farmers cultivate their coffee on rich volcanic soils under ideal climatic conditions, contributing to the region’s reputation for producing coffees of exceptional clarity and complexity.

This PB (Peaberry) lot is a shining example of the cup quality that Murang’a is celebrated for — offering bright acidity, layered sweetness, and a refined balance that reflects both the dedication of the farmers and the cooperative’s long-standing commitment to excellence.
